Well hello there everyone!

As said in my the title of my blog "One Large Step for One Small town Girl" this will be a very large step for me. At the end of May, I'll be doing something that I actually never thought I would be able to do; travel outside of the country. Where am I traveling you ask? Well, my fellow classmates and I are getting on a place and going to beautiful Seoul, Korea. I am quite excited but very nervous at the same time. I've never even been on a plane before!  So I know that there will be any obstacles that will have to be overcome and one of them will definitely be the plane ride. Since y'all will be following me as my classmates and I go on this journey, you many want to know a little about me.

For starters, my name is Ashley Tressler, and I am a junior at Penn State. I am a change-of-campus student from Penn State Harrisburg. My major is Agriculture and Education Extension, and my dream is to be a High School Ag teacher: to teach youth about subjects that many people are not very knowledgeable about. Unlike many of my other Ag friends, I do not have much of an Ag background. In high school, my involvement in the Ag department was apart of my 3 year career at L-S (transferred schools my freshman year). The love for the great outdoors began at a very young age. I loved animals and being outside and my career path was originally to become a Veterinarian. That changed when I got into college. Now, my home is in the AEE department, and I'm glad that the search is over. In college, my involvement in Ag still continues. I am the secretary of Alpha Tau Alpha (a honorary Agriculture Education organization/fraternity) and the secretary of the Recreation Committee in CFFA (Collegiate Future Farmers of America).

If not for my involvement in this university and the Penn State common wealth campus, I would not be the person who I am today. If you are someone who believes that everything happens for a reason then you and I are on the same boat. Everything that I've overcome throughout my college career will help me throughout this trip. This includes language barriers, ethnic, race, and cultural differences. The excitement for this trip will not go unnoticed because my classmates and I are going to keep everyone updated! So until you read again, adios my friends.
